Happy Tuesday to you and welcome to the latest edition of TimeMachiner.

Today marks the final edition of 2022. Last year I took the latter half of December off and it was a nice way to rejuvenate. This year is no different. I know the remainder of the year is busy for me and I would think it is for you too. While I would love to hope you have time to focus on emails from me, I also realize that it's best to break until January and come back in '23 ready to go.

One fantastic highlight of the year for me was how many books I've read. I have shared my progress with you periodically, but even if I don't finish my current book by 12/31 I will still have read 11 books this year. It's been a long time since I read so much, but to average nearly a book a month is a milestone for me.

Here at TimeMachiner, I've worked quite hard to remain consistent with delivering interesting reads, not burning out, and tweaking things as I go. I have some plans to do more next year for both my Time Traveler members and for my subscribers. I will continue to experiment and I hope you enjoy the ride.

Because it's the holiday season and a time of giving, I have a gift for you and something extra for my Time Travelers.

I unlocked one of my favorite pieces of The Longform I wrote this year: The Discman Was Amazing, The Discman Was Awful. This dive into the history of portable CD players was fun to research and bring to you. Everyone can read it right now! Normally these are exclusive to members. I'll keep it unlocked until 1/1/23 when it goes back behind the membership paywall.

For Time Travelers, who literally help keep this site going, you can now get my 5 of My Favorite Stories You Won't Believe Are Real. It's available in the Time Traveler Hub after you log in at TimeMachiner.io.

Not a Time Traveler and want to read it? Join now and get instant access.

Finally, I want to thank each and every one of you for reading TimeMachiner. I hope you get out of it all the work and love I put into it. Keep sending feedback and suggestions. I read and reply to every single one. Extra thanks to my members and those who've supported my work by "buying me a coffee". You help cover the costs of running this place. 🙏🏻

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday season and a happy new year. I'll see you in 2023.

-Aaron

PS: I'm trying hard to grow TimeMachiner. If you enjoy my work, please tell a friend. Thank you. 😊

POLL OF THE WEEK

Last Week's Results:

Laundry or Dishes?

In the final poll of the year, the laundry has it. I could understand the "set it and forget it" part of doing laundry which makes it a bit easier than doing dishes. For me, it's the folding part that is the worst part of doing laundry. I truly believe if someone could make a household folding machine, where you dump all your clean clothes in a chute and they come out folded, will become the next billionaire.

Dead or Alive, You’re Coming With Me
When science fiction becomes science fact, it can be awesome. Other times it can be really bad. In the case of "Asimov's Laws of Robotics", it has become reality to examine the first law "A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm." because,…

Hive Temporarily Forced Offline
With people looking for Twitter alternatives, because... you know why, there have been many giving Mastodon and others a try. One that has come up is called Hive, a social network I'd never even heard of a month ago. The influx of people has been so massive though that this 2-person company is feeling…
